The Cleanse – Over the Hump at Last

Day 8.

I’m going to be honest….  It wasn’t easy….  Here is a micro re-cap of my first few days that I wanted to shield you from.

For my first 5 days, I gradually eliminated specific foods from my diet.  The wine, muffins, tea and flesh foods were first to go (please click).  The dairy and eggs were next, then all grains.  Nuts and seeds along with legumes were last and now I am strictly on cruciferous vegetables, raw salad greens, apples and pears for three days.   I made “Kale Chips”, “Curried Cauliflower”, “Micro-Green Salads”, “Lemon Brussel Sprouts”, “Wilted Gai-Lan”, “Dehydrated Cinnamon Pears” and “Sauteed Apples”.  Connect with me if you want the recipes.  The thought of them now giving me temporary nausea.  It will be a while for our affection to resume.

Here is the recipe for the Curried Cauliflower that I had as a picture in Monday’s post.

Curried Cauliflower (Preheat oven to 375 degrees)

1 head cauliflower, separated into florettes

1/2 lg. onion, thinly sliced

1 lg. clove garlic, crushed and minced

1 tsp. curry powder

1/2 tsp. toasted ground cumin seed

1/2 tsp. toasted ground mustard seed, black or yellow

1 tbsp. coconut butter

salt and pepper, to taste

1 handful cilantro, finely chopped

  • On stove top, steam cauliflower until very al dente.  Set aside.
  • In another pan, melt coconut butter and saute onions until golden.  Add garlic and saute until aromatic.
  • Add cauliflower pieces, spices and seasoning to cover.
  • Place vegetables on sheet tray or Pyrex and roast for about 20-30 minutes in 375 degree oven or until cauliflower is soft and edges have become golden.
  • Finish with cilantro and adjust seasoning if needed.

I now begin the slow re-introduction of all the food that I took out in order to watch for any reactions or sensitivities to foods.  So far, so good!
