Ornie the Pig and His Cookie Cravings

Is this you?  How often do you fight the same cravings day in and day out?

Many times these addictive foods in our lives are related to food sensitivities.  I know, sounds sad doesn’t it?  It goes like this….  The food sensitivity sufferer craves foods which when eaten, temporarily create a feeling of well-being and euphoria.  They feel better for a while, but then feel lousy later.  The theory behind this physiological response is that the chemicals released from immune cells cause a temporary biochemical imbalance, which shifts levels of certain hormones and neurotransmitters.  The body is then forced to create ways to balance and readjust resulting in cravings for sweets, simple carbs and reactive foods as a method in restoring biochemical equilibrium.  The issue is that this creates an ongoing cycle that leads to continued symptoms, excess calorie consumption and, or binge eating.  Read below to find out how you can find out what your reactive foods are by way of the MRT, Mediator Release Test.

MRT is an indirect method of accurately measuring mediator release.  MRT does this by measuring changes in the liquids to solids ratio of our blood after it has been exposed and incubated with the test substance. It accounts for all reactions by your immune cells.  This is done as an indicator that your immune cells have released chemical mediators such as histamine, cytokines and prostaglandins which produce damaging effects on body tissues, leading to the development of symptoms.  Significant reactions are broken down into Reactive (Red), Moderately Reactive (Yellow) and Insignificant Reaction (Green).  All measurements are made by using the most accurate method of measurement (Ribbon Technology) currently available.  After receiving your test results, and other dietary info, the work begins.  An individualized eating plan builds a healthy diet around foods you tolerate and eliminates the foods and substances which trigger non-allergic immune system reactions.  A careful reintroduction schedule is phased in to help you “fine tune”  and build your healthy diet.  It also helps you become mindful of how your body responds to each new food in your diet.  MRT is a perfect adjunct to Metabolic Typing or other health building program.
