The Question About Eggs and Cholesterol

Many of my clients worry about their cholesterol and ask me if they should eat eggs or not.  I say, “Enjoy your eggs…  Yolks included”!
According to Uffe Ravnskov, a leading researcher and cholesterol expert, the direct effect of eating a low cholesterol diet on serum (blood) cholesterol measures about .5%.  Yes, you got it….  One half of 1%.
Cholesterol is a precursor to all our hormones.  Our bodies make as much as it needs to function and help keep oxidative damage from taking over.  You have probably heard about a rare condition called Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH)  Most people with a family history of high cholesterol have a family history of poor diet and lifestyle, not a true genetic disorder.

Clearing Up the Cholesterol Confusion

If you are concerned about your cholesterol numbers (according to medical standards), know that reducing stress and lowering inflammation that results from consumption of sugar, refined foods, processed dairy products and foods that you are sensitive to, will go a long way to improve your health and well-being.
A high level of cholesterol is generally a sign that something else is wrong and your body is responding with protective factors.  Does high cholesterol mean you are more prone to heart disease or death?
Ravnskov shows in another report that cholesterol can protect us against heart disease.  In an eggshell, the alarm about cholesterol is unfounded.  Go ahead and enjoy your eggs with all the yellows!
