Help Start the Change: Whole Foods

processed food ingredient list

Remember last week’s blog post on harmful oils?  Today I have an opportunity to get your voices heard.

I know so many of you shop and get your fresh “take out” meals and snacks at Whole Food’s Market.  Have you ever taken a look at many or most of their prepared foods ingredient lists?  Many or most items contain polyunsaturated-rich, prone to rancidity and oxidation vegetable oils.

I can tell you now from experience, they are way off their quest to sell the best quality products.  In their core values statement, Whole Foods says that they “choose foods that are whole, fresh, natural, organic, local, seasonal and unprocessed.” Their continued use of these oils goes completely against these core values.

Vegetable oils are toxic to our health and yet most restaurants are still using such industrial oils as canola, sunflower, soy, cottonseed and corn oils.  Spread the word and let Whole Foods know that this is important to you.  If they begin seeing their bottom line affected, they might change their tune and start using healthier cooking oils and fats.

Once we get the ball rolling with Whole Foods, other restaurants and food suppliers will follow suit!!
